Civelek Lab has been awarded a three-year Transformational Project Award from the American Heart Association. The title of the award is “Genetic Regulation of Vascular Smooth Muscle Gene Expression.”
Mete represented the Genetics Society of America as part of the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology Capitol Hill Day to lobby Virginia lawmakers to increase funding for NIH and NSF.
Rita Anane-Wae and Sarah Innis, both second year BME students, were awarded the Harrison Undergraduate Research Award. Rita will work with Redouane over the summer and Sarah will be part of the summer Diabetes Research Program at UVA.
We received our second grant, a two-year R21, from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. This grant will fund our computational work to characterize loci associated with increased risk for coronary artery disease.
