• Harrison Undergraduate Research Award

    Dillon Lue, second-year BME student, and Zhiwen Xu, first-year Biology student were awarded the Harrison Undergraduate Research Award. This is an award given to only 40 undergraduate students around the university every year. Dillon and Zhiwen join Lisa, Rita, and Ngozi as the latest Harrison Awardees. Congratulations to all of them.

  • Dr. Qianyi Yang joins the lab

    Dr. Qianyi Yang joined the lab as a postdoctoral fellow. She is a molecular biologist who comes to our lab from another postdoc position in Washington University St Louis. She will work on adipose tissue-related projects in the laboratory.

  • NSF/BSF Grant on Data Storage in DNA

    Our lab received a joint grant from NSF with Farzad Hassanzadeh of UVA Electrical Engineering and Computer Science to characterize the local sequence context dependent errors in synthesis, replication, and sequencing of DNA and identify a mathematical model to correct these errors for data storage purposes.

  • PlaqOmics: Leducq Foundation Transatlantic Network of Excellence

    Our lab is now part of an international consortium funded by the Fondation Leducq: PlaqOmics Our goal is to understand the molecular mechanisms that lead to atherosclerotic plaque instability.
